Det är nu det börjar…

This is when it begins…

Spring has truly arrived — or rather, early summer here in Skåne. The landscape is breathtakingly beautiful, with rolling fields of rapeseed, soft green woodlands, cowslips and lilac hedges wherever you look. A treat for both the eyes and the soul.

I’m someone who spends a lot of time in the car, driving between places and meetings. I love watching the seasons shift through the windshield, and right now is the absolute best time. In the swaying grass, horses just turned out to pasture are grazing peacefully. New foals are appearing in the fields beside their protective mothers, and every now and then a horse is seen dozing in the warm sun. The buzzing insects haven’t fully arrived yet, so for now, there’s still a bit of calm to enjoy.

But for an active horse person, this time of year isn’t exactly calm. Once winter loosens its grip, I want to do everything — all the things I’ve been putting off until “later.” Bathing all the horses in the stable, cleaning the tack room, clearing paddocks, riding at outdoor open arenas, washing all the winter rugs, attending equestrian events, and finally getting back into the competition ring.

So I guess I need a priority list — or maybe I should call it a bucket list, since it feels like it’ll take forever to get through it all.
Either way, this weekend I’ll start checking things off, because together with Malin (of course), I’m heading to the Pramm Memorial at Jägersro. A day filled with sunshine (according to the forecast) and lots of amazing horses. I’m so excited — I’ve never seen a live gallop race before.

And then there’s the most exciting part of this spring: our beloved Greta is going to be bred. If all goes well, the horse closest to my heart will become a mother next year.
Like I said — this is when it begins…
